Historian and Biographer

Rower Ed Woodhouse brings to life Joe Burk champion oarsman, WW2 naval hero and influential college coach at Yale and Penn in the definitive biography to be  published on September 6, 2025. 

Woodhouse grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama and currently makes his home in Southwest Virginia.  He holds a BA Magna Cum Laude from Harvard where he was on the 1974 national rowing champion “Rude and Smooth”  Varsity crew. Woodhouse received his law degree from his father’s alma mater, the University of Virginia.  After forty years as an attorney first in private practice and then in-house counsel in the chemical industry, he now spends his time rowing and writing about people he deeply admires.
